The Science Of Success Social marketing meets its goals by influencing people's health-related behaviors. Research proves that knowledge alone does not change behavior. There are many other influences: internal factors include attitudes, beliefs, and skills; and external factors involve social, peer, family, cultural, and religious norms. A person's environment must also be taken into account. Effective behavioral interventions must identify and address all of these influencing factors. We consider this “big picture” when we're creating social marketing campaigns. Everything we do is based on scientific principles and research. Qualitative and quantitative research can tell us which approach is most likely to impact behavior, where we stand when the campaign is launched, what the results are, and how we need to adjust the program.
